Emmy Award Winning News Reporter In New York City

My name is Katie Lusso and I’m originally from Bethpage, NY.  I grew up there and went on to attend West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.  It was there that I discovered my love for reporting.

In March of 2010 I got my first on air job at WDTV 5 News, a CBS affiliate in Bridgeport, WV. I was a general assignment reporter, responsible for shooting, writing and editing all of my own stories. In August of 2011 I became the Weekend Anchor and Producer.  I produced and anchored the 6 o’clock and 11 o’clock newscasts every weekend, in addition to my weekday reporter responsibilities.

In June of 2012 I ventured 400 miles north back to my home state of New York to join the News 12 family. Here I am the morning reporter at News 12 Brooklyn. I also occasionally fill in as an anchor for News 12 Brooklyn & News 12 the Bronx. In 2014 my colleagues and I won a NY Emmy award for our coverage during one of the storms. In 2017 I won a NY Emmy Award for my series Bravo! Brooklyn! I’ve also won an AP Award and a Deadline Club Award.
